Creating change at
Westfield London

In late February 2012, we ran a unique live event on Southern Terrace. We were given space on a huge digital poster site. And we used it to invite shoppers to donate money - by texting the poster itself. When a text arrived, a shower of coins dropped into place, forming a picture of a woman in Africa; a woman we can now help to set up her own business. It's a live example of small change here creating big change in Africa. See the campaign portraits. See event video.

About the MicroLoan Foundation

Unlike a lot of charities, we don't give money
to people who need it. We lend
it, in very small amounts,
to enable women in
sub-Saharan Africa to
set up their own small
businesses. We also
give them training,
mentoring and
support. This way,
they can become
self-sufficient - often
for the first time in their
lives. When they pay the
money back, we lend it again.
To other women, to set up their own
businesses. It's a completely virtuous circle, where a single
donation can end up helping lots of women. Find out more.
